Our Heart & Vision

Thankfully, we don't have to come up with a cool mission statement, because Jesus made it easy for us when he told us to go "make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19).

That's the mission.

How we as a local church plan do that can be summed up in our vision statement:

Our vision is to be an authentic, inclusive and sending community where the grace of Jesus Christ deeply impacts every area of our ordinary lives.

Let's break this down.

What does it mean to be a SENDING community?

Our God is a sending God. He sent Jesus into this dark world, and Jesus sent His Spirit into his followers (the Church), and the Spirit sends the Church (that's us) into all the dark parts of this world to be a light.

More specifically, over the next 7 years (by 2027) we want to send out a total of 70 people who will:

  • Plant 2-3 True Life campuses along the Jersey Shore in Monmouth and Ocean County counties.
  • Serve as international missionaries reaching the un-reached people groups of the world
  • Support other churches as they plant new churches

What does it mean to be AUTHENTIC?

By this we simply mean that we are a church where people can be honest about who they really are and what they're really struggling with. It means that we don't pretend to have it all together if we don't. It means we don't use phony religious jargon to sound more spiritually mature than we really are. It means that when people are upset with or frustrated with each other, they can address it honestly instead of pretending everything's okay. It means leaders can lead from a place of humility and weakness, and not think they must have it all together.

What do we mean by INCLUSIVE?

This means we accept and include people who are different from us and who have struggles that we don’t have. It means we open up our homes to people who may annoy us, who we may even have prejudices toward. Because that's who Jesus is -- he is the one and only Savior for everyone, the religious elite and the most notorious of sinners.

And the only way to embrace these values is to allow the "grace of Jesus Christ to deeply impact every area of our ordinary lives" - our going-to-work, yelling-at-the-kids, dealing-with-the-in-laws every-day lives.
